A race of creatures created in a lab and regarded as technology, while others think of it as a beast species. They are often used to spy on enemy delegates, even though it is illegal to do so.

They are a species that can - with undivided attention, hard work, and determination - be tamed and used as a sort of slaves. Wild Trakknen have a toxic bite; if one bites you long enough, it can inject enough of its toxins to kill a human. It takes takes twice as much to kill an alien, and ten times as much to kill another of its species.
'Domesticated' Trakknen are used mainly to send messages, spy on others, and just plain servant work. Training them is a difficult art to master, but has great benefits.
They come in multiple colours, the most common is black, then grey, then other colours, and the rarest is white. Eye colour is usually red, but can be other colours too. The eye colour and body colour will never be the same.
Born as eggs, hatching times range from a month to a year, depending on the rarity and climate. Hotter means faster hatching, but extremely cold conditions also make them hatch quickly too. In other words, the more drastic the temperature, the faster. If hatched in hot weather, the shell will melt off and evaporate, but if hatched in cold weather, the shell will become brittle and crack off. The eggs are around the size of an ostrich egg, and hard as stone. Humans cannot crack them open.
Mating season comes every leap year (and if this planet has no leap years, it's every four years on the same year that Earth has its leap years).
